The skincare world is noisy! Between #SkinTok and social media skincare trends, influencer recommendations, and glossy ads, it’s tough to know which treatments are truly worth it. As a licensed esthetician based in Winter Garden, FL (and working virtually with clients all over the world), I want to help you get the biggest bang for your buck and help your skin thank you in the long-run!
Let’s talk about which treatments I love and trust for real results… and which ones I don’t waste my time (or your money) on.
Hydrating Facials
A good hydrating facial is never just fluff. When done right, it rebuilds your skin barrier, reduces irritation, and deeply restores moisture. If you’ve ever felt tight, sensitive, or dull, this treatment is gold. Think of these types of treatments like incredibly restorative sessions to rebuild and strengthen your skin. It's not always about exfoliation!
Hydroxysome + Multi-Acid Cocktail Peels
Not all peels are created equal. A carefully customized peel, or one that blends new age formulas and molecules like hydoxysomes, exosomes and time-release acids or other active ingredients at the right strength for your skin can better brighten, smooth, and tighten and lift - without a lot of downtime or irritation. We live in a great time for skincare technology and the peels of today are NOT the peels of yesterday. The key is finding someone that has these new formulas and truly understands skin personalization.
Growth Factor Microneedling
Microneedling alone is powerful for texture, scars, and fine lines. Add growth factors and targeted serums, and you supercharge your skin’s ability to repair and renew. This also includes PDRN (Aka salmon sperm dna), exosomes and other new-age healing and rejuvenating ingredients that make these treatments life-changing. It’s one of the few treatments that truly builds collagen from within.
LED Phototherapy
LED isn’t just a gadget. Red, blue, and near-infrared light are proven to reduce inflammation, improve healing, fight acne, and boost results when layered into a facial program. I love to use these modalities alongside my custom chemical peels and advanced facial treatments to boost results.
Microcurrent + Lymphatic Drainage
Microcurrent helps lift and tone facial muscles naturally through our body's own cellular energy. It's an older technology, but well worth the resurged hype. It also helps activate lymphatic drainage and helps move stagnant fluid and reduces puffiness. Together, they make you look more awake and sculpted, without pain, downtime or irritation.
Dermaplaning
Yes, it makes your skin feel smooth instantly and can be great for makeup application, but over time, it’s harsh on the barrier and can cause sensitivity and dermatitis issues. There are safer, longer-term strategies for exfoliation. I wouldn't waste my time on this treatment.
HydraFacials
Trendy? Yes. Why? I'm not sure. I've worked with these machines and I'm never impressed. It's more marketing and merchandising than anything else IMO. And the price tag is ridiculous. I wouldn't waste my time - there are so many better options.
Microdermabrasion
This is another old technology that's been around for years. But today, these treatments can be too aggressive for what we now know about the skin - especially for acne. It's just too much for most people and, again, there are better options out there for results.
High Steam Facials
That hot steam may feel relaxing in the moment, but it dehydrates your skin and worsens inflammation. There are gentler ways to prep the skin for extractions.
Aggressive Peels & Lasers
Strong chemical peels and ablative lasers may deliver dramatic results, but they often compromise the skin barrier, and can create more damage later on. For those prone to hyperpigmentation, these medspa treatments can even sometimes make pigmentation disorders and conditions like melasma more pronounced. I prefer steady, less aggressive modalities that are far more skin-friendly.
Morpheus & Other “Next-Gen” Devices
Hyped as miracle machines, these treatments are extremely costly for results that don’t always deliver. Plus, they can often be a bit uncomfortable. I don’t recommend them as first-line options.
Botox & Fillers
This is a personal stance, but I’m not a fan of chasing youth with injectables. They carry more risks then most people realize, and often encourage unrealistic beauty standards. I’d rather help you love the skin you’re in with safe, healthy approaches than actually address skin health. No thanks!
The most effective treatments respect your skin barrier, encourage long-term skin health, and are backed by up-to-date science and innovation. Whether you’re here in Winter Garden or working with me virtually, I always prioritize treatments that truly deliver. We're not chasing trends here!
